How to Restore a Ledger with Your Recovery Phrase

When you need to restore

You restore a Ledger after losing or resetting a device, or when moving your accounts to a new device.

Step 1: Start setup

Turn on the Ledger and choose the option to restore from an existing recovery phrase.

Step 2: Enter the phrase

Enter your 24-word phrase on the device, in the correct order. The device will guide you word by word.

Step 3: Set a new PIN

Choose a new PIN for the device. This PIN protects the restored wallet.

Step 4: Reinstall apps and add accounts

In Ledger Live, reinstall your coin apps and add your accounts back. Your funds will reappear because they live on the blockchain.

Important note

Never enter your recovery phrase into Ledger Live, a website, or any app. It is entered only on the hardware device itself.
